Art of story telling

Recently, I have seen an all-time great movie “The usual suspects”. I am amazed with the way the story was narrated through out the feature film. It was a great job neatly done by Director and the editor.

Greatness of this movie is in the “art of story telling” (Though I have to see it again to clarify many things as mentioned by many of the reviewers in IMDB.com). Either it is a Comedy or a Suspense or a Thriller, if it is not handled correctly or if the audience start getting the story, then the whole purpose of it lost.

Some story tellers pass the above statement but many of them would at least rise the expectation that something unusual going to happen.

But the movie, “The usual suspects” pass in every criteria of story telling. It is absolute mastery of story telling by creating suspense rather than expectation.

And finally, though I am not a fan of “Kevin Spacey” for the weird characters he is doing in the films I have seen, I must agree that he is a fantastic actor who can bring all the life that the character needs.

I would highly suggest you to go for this movie and I am sure you will see it at least twice.

Manchester United and Me

Today, MANU qualified for the quarter finals of the Champions League 2010 with a convincing win over AC Milan.

I become a football addict of late. I don’t know how I become a fan of Manchester United football team. It should be the attractive players, Sir Alex, or anything. I always proudly follow the team. For the past three years, I am following each and every match of them. If I would have missed the European night involving MANU, it will be the first thing come in my mind next day when I wake up. Mostly, I don’t have time to see the match live, but always know the status of the team both in EPL and Champions league. Mostly, I had enjoyable moments with MANU winning everything in the last decade.

One of my wishes is to visit, Theatre of Dreams, at least once in my life time. I can’t imagine the day if I could make it happen. One among always full 75,000 people; chanting “Glory Glory Man United, Glory Glory Man United”, Just I could say now is “WoW”.

Until now, I can’t imagine any other person than Sir Alex as the coach. I always wonder how he is able to carry a football coaching position beyond 20 years and that too for a high profile team like MANU. It should be the small boy inside him. Still he remembers the first goal in Old Trafford with him as Manager. Still he remembers the best goal with 30 odd passes with Scholesy’s grand finish. Still he remembers the European nights. He is awesome. I like him to continue for more years. Salute Sir Alex.

The best player I watched in my period is definitely “Cristiano Ronaldo”. The players I liked more in MANU are “Rudd Van Nistelrooy”, “Ryan Giggs”, “Rooney”, “Ronaldo”, “Keane”, “Beckham” , now “Fletcher”, “Valencia” and of course everyone :-).

Following is the team which I would pick from the players of last few years if I get a chance in FIFA video games :-).

Goal Keeper
Edwin Van de Sar

Defenders
Vidic
Ferdinand
Gary Neville
O’Shea (He is really a versatile)

Mid field
Ronaldo (Sad that he went to Madrid)
Fletcher (He is really a master and actually starts to play his potential now a day)
Park / Carrik
Giggs (Though he is not playing in Wings now a days)

Strikers
Rooney
NistelRooy

Courage

"Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage." - Anais Nin

When I came across the above said phrase, I realize how much it is true in every aspect of life. For an instance, until I met with a accident which happened immediately after joining my company, I used to drive fast whenever I feel enthusiastic. Sometimes I drove at 80KMpH with my splendor. After the accident, always some fear comes in my mind which makes me reluctant to raise the accelerator. In this, I have missed the thrill which I have before. I am not telling that speed at 80KM/H is the life, but the fear can shrink the extra mile we might be dream for. A co-worker of mine in Japan, who is over 40 years of age used to participate in such extreme sports even now. I always amazed by his enthusiasm and more over I feel personally where the courage gone in me. In any means, I am not going to change in this aspect as artificial courage always leads to destroying things. Let me stay as a person who takes calculative risk.
